Poetry Friday: Lightning Dance

Lightning Dance

For too long
I have forgotten
the dance.
The beat of blood
movement
           unabashed
           uncensored
           unleashed—
feet lifting from grass
arms lifting to sky.

Here
with the sentinel pines
the swooping bats
the night sky thunder
I dance—
          remembering
   that I
   can conjure
   lightning.
